What If - review

I am a huge fan of Rebecca Donovan and her books. What If was pretty good though I wouldn't call it her best.

When Cal Logan runs into his long lost friend Nicole Bentley, he is shocked to see her since no one has heard from her in over a year however, this girl is not the Nicole Bentley that he knew yet there is something about her. Nyelle Preston is the complete opposite of Nicole. Cal is completely intrigued by Nyelle and trying to figure out her story.

"She continues to confuse me with every conversation we have. But this girl makes me happy. Frustrated too. But mostly happy. And so I'm going to take advantage of every second I have with her."

This book is a great story about friendship, love and getting past the what ifs!

Branded - review

Branded (Ignite Trilogy, #2)

Branded by Tara Sivec is the second book in the Ignite Trilogy and features Phina and DJ. We first met Phina in Burned, which was awesome. Phina is a firecracker! She had a rough childhood, was abused and burned. Phina is a strong character yet she has scars that she hides from the world.

After a drunken night in high school, that DJ doesn't remember and Phina will never forget, the two end up parting ways. Fifteen years later, the two meet up again in a chance encounter and decide on a one night stand, with conditions! This is now Phina's chance for revenge and of course one night isn't enough for DJ, he wants more!

There is so much chemistry between DJ and Phina and the two become much closer. It could have been due to the threat of danger but the two of them were branded in eachother's hearts.

Synopsis
In the land of Hollywood, bright lights cover lies, truths hide in shadows, and the lives of the rich and famous are illusions created by smoke and mirrors.

When costume designer Josie Bane first lays eyes on Anders Ellis, she hates him instantly. Conceited and arrogant, he's the epitome of a Hollywood playboy. So it’s much to Josie’s dismay when he becomes the star of her sexual fantasies.

Never expecting to see him again, she gives in to her desires for a night she’ll never forget. However, Josie soon learns that life is full of surprises. When their paths cross again, sparks fly. With three little words, Anders changes everything.

He’s after one thing.

She refuses to give it to him... again.

When Josie realizes she’s falling for a man that will never let her in but refuses to let her go, she must decide if the risk is worth the reward.

With a relationship shrouded in secrets and outside forces poised to tear them apart, did they ever stand a chance? Before the smoke clears and the curtain falls, Josie and Anders must distinguish between what’s fact and what’s fiction in a place where the truth is never black and white.

Excerpt
“Did I mention this place is a shit hole?” Anders moved to the bed and fell on it, his sigh over-the-top and dramatic.

“Yes, I think you might have mentioned that somewhere between get naked and straddle my face.”

Anders chuckled and turned toward Josie. “Yeah, that sounds about right.”

“Want to tell me what this place has done to make you pout like a five-year-old?”

“I’m not pouting. I just have certain expectations, and when those expectations aren’t met, it pisses me off.”

“And those expectations would be?” Josie trailed off, rolling her wrist in the air. She was far more amused by his antics than she should be.

“Food. I wanted dinner in my room, but that’s not possible after the kitchen closes. So I either eat whatever nasty, stale shit is in the vending machines or go to the dining area and eat whatever nasty, stale shit is in there.”

Josie’s lip twitched as Anders’ face twisted with annoyance. She fake coughed and mumbled, “High maintenance.” Leaning over the side of the bed, she grabbed her shirt and slipped it on before shimming into her panties. She ignored the way Anders watched her with narrowed eyes as she hopped off the bed and crossed the room. Digging through her bag, she pulled out a granola bar and tossed it on Anders’ bare chest. “This isn’t stale or nasty. Dinner is served.” She bowed at the waist and swept her arm out wide with a flourish.

“Does it get exhausting?” Anders ripped the wrapper from the granola and took a bite.

“Does what get exhausting?”

“Being a smart-ass all the time.”

Josie moved to the bed and snatched the granola bar away. Breaking off a huge piece, she popped it into her mouth and shrugged. “I don’t know. Does being an asshole ever get exhausting for you?”

“I’m not an asshole.”

“And I’m not a smart-ass.”

“You’re impossible.” Anders huffed and snagged the remainder of the bar.

“It seems we at least have that in common.”

“We’ve got to start somewhere, right?”

MY REVIEW:

Hollywood & Vine was such a fun, sexy read. Anders Ellis is a playboy, Hollywood actor all the way. He sleeps with girls one time and one time only. That is until Josie Bane comes along. She is the costume designer on the set of his new film and he is determined to have her (again) and she wants nothing to do with him after their one quick fling. In his defense, he never got her name and only referred to her as Ivy.

When Josie finally decides to give Anders a shot, the two keep their relationship under wraps (you know how the paps can be)! Unfortunately, Anders' co-star doesn't get the memo and does everything she can to get with Anders herself.

I devoured this book and couldn't wait to find out what was coming next. Definitely looking forward to more from Olivia Evans.

Crow's Row - review

I have had this book on my "to read" list for about a year and I finally got around to reading it. It was not what I expected at all.

Crow's Row was about a girl who witnesses a brutal murder, is kidnapped and falls in love with the leader of a gang. While she is dealing with her new surroundings, she learns a lot more about her brother's death and who the people she is living with really are.

I'm really torn on how I feel about this book. On one hand I really liked it because it was different, forbidden and twisted and on the other hand, it didn't really grab me as much as I wanted it too. Not sure if it was the fact that I waited so long to read it and my expectations were extremely high or what. All in all it wasn't a bad book.
Maybe I should read it again!

Never Me - review

Never Me is the second book I've read by Kate Stewart and I plan on reading more of her books.

Nadine. All girls hate her but most don't even know her. She'll sleep with your man in a heartbeat then never talk to him again. This self-proclaimed whore does not want to settle down and is afraid of getting close to someone. That all changes when she takes a road trip with her best friend and meets Spencer.

Spencer is a great character. He's persistent and determined to get Nadine to open up and leave her whorish ways behind for him. Their chemistry is automatic and one week with him changes her life forever!

Never say never!

Hard knox - Blog Tour

HARD KNOX

A New Series by NYT Bestselling Author Nicole Williams

The Outsider Chronicles, #1

New Adult/Adult Contemporary

Released August 12, 2014

Knox Jagger. The name inspires resent in every male at Sinclair University, want in every female, and contempt in Charlie Chase.  Charlie can be summed up in three words: independent, independent, and independent. To Charlie, Knox epitomizes everything that’s wrong with college males: prolific one-night stands, drunken senseless fights, and a body that hints at prioritizing gym time over study time.

As an up-and-coming writer for Sinclair University’s newspaper, Charlie’s tasked with getting to the bottom of who’s been dropping little white pills into girls’ drinks at parties. In an ocean of All-American boys sporting polo shirts and innocent smiles, Knox is the obvious suspect. As evidence piles up against the bad boy of Sinclair, Charlie becomes more and more certain it isn’t Knox. But when her drink is dosed at a party and she wakes up on Knox’s couch the next morning,

Charlie’s left with more questions than answers when it comes to Knox Jagger. How can Charlie ever hope to uncover the truth behind a guy so closed off he’s become....HARD KNOX.

MY REVIEW:

Hard Knox very much reminded me of Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster with a mystery twist. I love Nicole Williams' books so much that I must read everything that she writes and Hard Knox was no exception.

Knox Jagger is the epitome of hot! He's everything that any girl could possibly want yet he's not the kind to settle down. That is, until he meets Charlie Chase. Knox and Charlie hit it off immediately however, Charlie knows better than to get involved with Knox. After someone slips a pill into her drink, Charlie and Knox are on a mission to discover who is responsible for the crime. Knox has his reasons for wanting to keep Charlie safe and close to him at all times.

Sometimes appearances aren't what they seem.

I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the CRASH series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST & FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES (S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a handful of others. I write stories about everyday kinds of people who find themselves in extraordinary kinds of situations. I tell love stories with happy endings because I believe in making the world a better place, and that’s one tiny way I can make it so. I’m one of those people who still believe in true love and soul mates, and would rather keep my head in the clouds any day over having my feet firmly on the ground.

That Girl - release day

Synopsis
This book is about That Girl...

The girl who leaves behind her past, including her name; runs away from home and vows to never let another identity claim her again. Broken dreams, an abusive step-dad and ugly memories from her childhood are the only shattered remnants that have the ability to haunt her.

With no money, an endless blank slate laying ahead of her and no hopes for the future, she sets out to survive at minimum wage jobs, moving from town to town, changing her name with each move, and never allowing glimpses of her past to threaten her empty future.
Average in every way, from her looks to her personality and even her style, there is not much to remember about her. When she abandons one town for another, she leaves behind her fake identity in the search of the next one, while leaving people asking themselves, “I wonder what ever became of that girl.”

This was her reality until Lincoln Wilks.

The number one defensive football player in Fort Collins who finally names That Girl.

My Review:

That Girl by HJ Bellus is my favorite book of hers to date. About a girl who can't wait to turn 18 and leave the awful, broken home she grew up in, the girl sets out on her own, going town to town with new identities along the way. It's not until she meets Lincoln Wilks, star football player and all around great guy, that her thoughts on life start change. He opens her up to love, life and living with hope of a better future.

I absolutely loved Linc and his patience and love that he felt for this girl. I loved their relationship and the fact that he would do anything to protect her from her past demons and current issues.  Linc helped that girl find herself and become the better version of herself with a little love and promise.

About the Author
I am an independent author excited about releasing my first novel very soon. A big dream coming true!!! I'm all country...the kinda country where green grass grows and corn pops up in rows....love Miranda and her bad ass music!!! Just a simple country girl getting one story out of her head at a time...I always fall hard for a trucker style hat...especially if it's a John Deere hat....loves me a good ol' farm boy!!!!!!

Left Drowning - review

Left Drowning by Jessica Park has been released for a year already and I've just finished it. A touching story that will make you believe in love, hope and second chances.

This was a great story about a girl, who after losing her parents believes there is nothing left for her until she meets a boy and his family who makes her feel alive again. After spending a lot of time together and opening up to love, Blythe and Chris discover there is more to their connection than a chance encounter.
Both Blythe and Chris have had tragic, troublesome pasts that have helped them to grow and discover that their lives are intertwined for a reason.

After reading Flat-Out Love, Jessica Park has been on my radar and I love reading what she comes up with next.

Cursed Love - review

Cursed Love by TH Snyder was definitely different from the Touch Series where I first got to know her writing. This book is more edgy and full of hot tattooed men. Um, hello, did you not admire the cover?!
I really liked Linc. After a childhood event left him scared and traumatized, this bad boy took off to live the life he wanted and not the life his parents had expected him to have.  With his best friend Daulton by his side, the two opened a tattoo shop and moved on with their lives. Amongst the numerous amounts of women to come through the door, there was one that got under Linc's skin. It's not until Jo leaves that Linc realizes his feeling for her.

Enter Etty. Girl in hiding, on the run, tattooed and spunky, looking to start over. When she meets Daulton and Linc they become fast friends. In such a small world, paths are sure to cross and we are left with a huge cliffhanger! Fortunately for me, Cursed Ecstasy just came out and I don't have to wait to find out what happens next!

P.S. - I was totally rooting for Linc and Etty. Not a big Jo fan :(

Taint - review

First off, if you are going to judge a book by the cover then this one gets 10 hot stars! The cover and blurb alone got me to buy this book.

Um, hello there Justice Drake! What an interesting job you have, turning housewives into whores. Mr. Drake teaches a wealthy group of women what their husbands want and how they want it. He teaches them about sex, passion and how to keep their men interested. This no holds barred class is six weeks long and you are asked to leave your inhibitions at the door.

This book is hot! Justice Drake is even hotter! When he develops a relationship with Allison Carr, things get complicated, lines get crossed and all hell breaks loose.

This is the first book that I've read by SL Jennings and it certainly will not be my last.

Room 212 - review

Room 212 was a great story from Kate Stewart! It's real and deals with the ups and downs of life.

Seth and Laura meet in their early twenties and hit it off yet they are both at different stages of their lives. Laura is a party animal and Seth his focused on his career. Neither of them are ready to settle down. When they meet up 10 years later, their connection is still strong and they finally end up on the same page.

I really enjoyed both characters. Laura is a strong girl. Yes, she makes mistakes but it's just part of growing up and discovering who you want to be. There are many paths that can take you to the same destination. It's a matter of which you choose to get you there.  I was happy to take this journey with her.

I will definitely read more of Kate Stewart's books in the future!

Breakable - review

When I heard that Tammara Webber was giving us more of Lucas/Landon I was thrilled! I absolutely loved Easy! Breakable is the prequel to Easy. With that being said, I think Breakable fell a little flat or me.

Told from the point of view of Lucas, we get a better glimpse of his childhood and back story as to how he came to be Lucas Maxfield.  Trying to leave behind Landon and move on with his life is a lot harder than expected after he meets Jacqueline Wallace.

Just because I didn't love this book does not mean that I love Lucas any less. As a matter of fact, I think I fell in love with him more. I loved that we got to see his love for Jacqueline through his eyes. Thank you Ms. Webber for this lovely surprise!

Great Exploitations - reviews

AAhhhh, Eve is back and still working on her 10, Henry Callahan. She goes to him for a job and while he's out of town on business she tends to some business of her own in Tampa.

Rob Tucker,  wife beater and a seven. What a slime ball! Of course trouble brews when his definition of getting physical has a double meaning! Things get complicated with the two errands and we are left again wanting more!

I really can't rave about this series enough and I really wish it could be made into a television mini-series. My only gripe is that these books are way too short and I'm constantly left wondering what's going to happen next.  Luckily, I have Sin in Seattle at my fingertips.

Another excellent addition to the Great Exploitation series. Things are heating up in San Fran and Eve now has some competition!

After encountering complications with the Tucker errand, there are now complications with Henry Callahan errand. When G orders Eve to give up on the Tucker errand, Eve convinces her that she is good at her job and will stop at nothing to get them both done.

I'm dying to know what is going to happen with Henry and Eve and what he's holding back from her. I have no idea how long this series of novellas is going to be but I can't wait for the next one!

Keep up the great work Ms. Williams! I'm hooked!

This Girl Stripped - Blog Tour

This Girl Stripped:
Synopsis:
My innocence was shattered one steamy October night, when I sold my soul to the devil to pay for a week in a dirty motel room.
Thinking I could rid myself of him, I fled the safety of the nomad lifestyle I had embraced my entire life for the security of a small upstate New York town, alongside my big sister Star.

What I never anticipated was a green eyed stranger that would steal my heart and never look back. And a dark eyed man on a motorcycle, who would teach me how to trust again. Both of them completely shattering every wall I ever put up to keep men out of my vulnerable world.

I am Paisley Bloom, and this is my devastating story.

MY REVIEW:
This Girl Stripped is the story of Paisley Bloom, Star's younger sister. It's the fourth book in the Hers Series however it could probably be read as a stand alone. Personally, I'd rather read the entire series from the beginning. Dawn Robertson has made me love these characters from the start. Every time I read one of her books I'm completely submerged in their world and I feel like I've really gotten to know these characters.

Paisley's life hasn't been easy. She hasn't made the best choices and the beginning of this book is no different.  After an incident one night, she heads home for the comfort of her friends and family. It's there that she meets River and Diesel. Torn between the two, Paisley has yet another choice to make. Fortunately this time she makes the right one.

Although Paisley was not my favorite I still really like this series and can't wait to find out what happens with Seven in the next installment, His. And I'm dying to know more about River!

Climax - Promo

If you’d asked me what I thought I’d be doing at twenty-two, it certainly wouldn’t be taking my clothes off for complete strangers. The world sees me as a whore and a worthless piece of trash. No one would ever believe that I am still a virgin, waiting to find love. I think I can easily say that I don’t think love is ever going to be finding me at Club Climax.

I give the crowd what they want. For the next two and half minutes, I dance, undress, shake my ass, and slide up and down the metal pole. I am in complete control while I am up here on this stage. The dancers make the rules at this place. That is except for the room in the far back, known as Ultimate Climax. It is the one place where all power is surrendered; the one place in this club that I said I’d never go, no matter how desperate I got. The price is just too high for me, and I refuse to sell myself to the highest bidder. I cannot afford to lose the only thing I have left… My control.

Sometimes, the day comes when we have to do the things that we said we would never do. For me, that day is here. I take a deep breath, grab the door handle, and know that once I walk through that door, my whole life will forever change.

Little did I know just how much it actually would.

MY REVIEW:

Well I literally just finished this book and I must say I devoured it. Took me a few hours but I read it in one sitting! I believe that says something in itself! If you are looking for a fifty shades type book, look no further!
Sexxa Kohl delivers a hot, steamy read with a lot of kink!

Blaire Michaels, a 22 year old virgin turns to stripping in order to help pay her mother's medical bills. She does her job, known at Club Climax as Raven and she refuses to subject herself to the Ultimate Climax room. The day she steps foot inside that room her entire world changes with the help of Mr. R.

Jaxxon Ryder. Wow. Hot, sexy, incredibly wealthy, dominant, yep! My kind book boyfriend! He has demons that he's been facing for years and Raven is the first girl who isn't scared of them. When the two break each other down, they realize just what they've each been missing.

I'm giving this book as a whole 4 - 4.5!

UnComplicated - A Vegas Girl's Tale - Blog Tour!

Uncomplicated Blurb:

Three days a week I work your everyday nine-to-five. The paperwork is never-ending. The pay is mediocre, and the office drama is simply intolerable. But the other four days a week, I am my own boss.

My name is Jennifer Sunshine and I am a Vegas Call Girl.

My clients range from frat boys on spring break to multimillionaire business men with stuffy wives and less than ideal equipment. I don’t have a daddy-complex or some kind of sob story. I don’t need the money, but it certainly is nice. The only thing I crave is the exhilarating feeling I get from being in control of something. Anything.

My life is uncomplicated, simple even. That was until he bulldozed his way into my life, and everything changed. Overnight he makes me realize how much I truly need him.

MY REVIEW:

Uncomplicated by Dawn Robertson and Jo-Anna Walker was a great, sexy, hot read! Of course when you think of a Vegas girl, you are going to think of sex. There is plenty of it and it's high up there on the smut factor!

Jennifer Sunshine is in complete control of her life and her clients, that is until she meets Mathis Verlinden. He is a very wealthy club owner, one hell of an alpha male and sexy as sin!

The chemistry between Mathis and Jennifer is electric. Truth be told that you don't know what your life is missing until you finally find it! These two are quite the match and I love where this story took them.

I am truly a fan of Dawn Robertson and can't wait for more!

Jo-Anna Walker Bio:

I'm a new self-published author who just got introduced to the writing world early 2013. My aunt suggested that I write a story because I'm an avid reader but I waved it off and left it alone. Well this year, a story came to me and I went with it. It took me a little bit but I finally got a story idea that worked and now I can't stop or control the characters/stories that keep popping up in my I'm born and raised in Canada and I live with my very wonderful and supportive husband, Michael. We don't have any children (yet) unless you count our cat. My hubby been my rock through this whole new experience for me. I couldn't have done it without him and my friends One of the many things I love about this new chapter in my life is that I'm learning constantly. It's never a dull moment and as long as one person likes my story, I am happy.

Come To Me Quietly - BLOG TOUR

COME TO ME QUIETLY - BLOG TOUR!!!
                          January 7th – February 7th

Title: Come To Me Quietly (The Closer to You Series, Book 1)

Author: A.L. Jackson

Release Date: January 7, 2014

Genre: New Adult Romance

Blog Tour hosted by: Shh Moms Reading, Literary Mania Reviews, and Brandee’s Book Endings

From the acclaimed bestselling author of Lost to You and When We Collide comes a new adult novel of one woman’s obsession: a man who’s as passionate as he is elusive—and as tempting as he is trouble…

Aleena Moore is haunted by Jared Holt. It’s been six years since she’s seen her brother’s best friend, the self-destructive bad boy she secretly loved in high school. As the years pass, she knows it’s time to move on. Time to decide between a practical nursing degree and her true dream as an artist. Time to get over Jared and give another guy a chance…

Just when she opens her heart to her friend Gabe, Aly returns home to find Jared sleeping on her couch. The teenage boy she loved has grown into a man she can’t resist. Covered in tattoos and lost in rage, he’s begging to be saved from his demons—the memories of the day he destroyed his family. As the two reconnect, their passion is hot enough to torch Aly’s judgment. But can she risk her future for a man who lives on the edge of destruction?

MY REVIEW:

AL Jackson truly has a way with words and has yet again delivered a brilliant book!

Jared and Aleena were childhood friends or should I say Jared and Aly's brother Christopher were friends and Aly always tagged along?! Either way, Jared always looked out for Aly. They had a close friendship until a tragic turn of events changed everything and Jared leaves town. Now he's back, years later and while Aly is still carrying a torch for him, he's battling demons that have tortured him for far too long.

As Jared and Aly reconnect and explore their grown up relationship, we get flashbacks of their childhood and the story of what happened that changed their world. It is truly heartbreaking and very emotional.

If you haven't read any of Ms Jackson's books then you are missing out. I'm excited for more from this series as well!

AL Jackson bio:

A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of Take This Regret and Lost to You, as well as other contemporary romance titles, including Pulled, When We Collide, and If Forever Comes.

She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.

Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children.

Look for Come to Me Softly, book two in the Closer To You Series, coming July 1, 2014

RAW - review

I really don't even know where to begin with this one. I finished the book a few days ago and actually needed time to process my thoughts before reviewing Raw. Even with the Author's Note I'm still left conflicted.

***Author Note: This is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.***

After all the buzz following this book, I couldn't wait to start it. I get that it's not a love story, fine. I like something different every so often but this was borderline CRAZY!!! Even the characters were crazy! Twitch has been stalking Lexi for quite some time. He's strong, wealthy, demanding and downright scary. And of course Lexi falls for her stalker after he saves her from being raped (which he set up). Lexi is a very naive woman and her stupidity annoyed me. She should have been smarter than she came off in the book especially since it's her job!

Raw was very frustrating, full of angst and just plain raw!
If it wasn't for the shocker at the end of this book, I would have given it 3.5 stars but the ending bumped it up to 4 stars! Not sure if I actually liked the ending or just liked that it was over.

Hard as it Gets - RELEASE DAY!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCb0qdCz4JI

MY REVIEW:

First off, I have to say that I love Laura Kaye's books. She completely won me over with Hearts in Darkness and Hard as it Gets did not disappoint!

Becca Merritt's brother has gone missing and her only option is to ask Nick Rixley for help. Nick is the the owner of Hard Ink tattoo parlor, ex-special forces and she is the wholesome daughter of his ex-commander. Of course he can't turn her away.

Becca & Nick have great chemistry and the sex is hot! I truly enjoyed both characters as well as Jeremy and the rest of the soldiers. Can't wait to see where this series goes.

This book is suspenseful, fast paced, exciting, intense, hot and lethal! You absolutely can't go wrong with sexy, tattooed, military men!

MY REVIEW

I absolutely devoured this book!

We met Starburst Bloom in Hers. Best friends with Seven James, she was raped by Seven's brother when she was younger, had his child, gave her away and has been living the life of sex and drugs. She is damaged, broken and alone.

Just when Star is about to lose everything, she decides to turn her life around and find the daughter, Willow that she gave up for adoption 11 years ago. Star leaves Manhattan for Woodstock, the town she grew up in. In her search, she finds River and his brother Chrome!

Chrome is seriously hot! Tattooed, pierced and a motorcycle man! Him and Star have some wickedly delicious sex which turns out to be more than just a one night stand. The only person that can ruin this relationship is Blue, Seven's brother.

I really loved this book. It's fast paced, full of sexiness and coincides with Hers. What a great addition to the series. Can't wait for more!
