Title: Speak Easy Duet
Author: Melanie Harlow
Genre: Historical Romance

Displaying speak-easy-duetfinal (1).jpg

Synopsis:
It starts with Speak Easy...

Enzo DiFiore is not a nice guy.

He’s a liar. A cheat. A criminal.

His family kidnapped my father and wants ten grand in ransom from me—next week.

But I can’t keep my hands off him.

Joey Lupo is a criminal too—and just because he’s helping me get the money doesn’t mean I should forgive him for all the dirty tricks he played on me in the past.

But I can’t keep my mind off him.

Me? I’m just a bootlegger with a weakness for whiskey, danger, and a man in a three-piece suit.

But deciding whom to trust isn’t easy in a world where everyone wants something—be it booze, money, power, or sex—and no one cares what it takes to get it.

It continues with Speak Low...

I thought I could leave danger behind.

I couldn’t.

I thought I did the right thing, betraying one man for another.

I didn’t.

I thought I knew what I wanted.

I was wrong.

Now I’m desperate to fix my mistakes before it’s too late and I lose the one thing, the one person, that truly matters to me.

Excerpt

Satisfied?” He set the phone down and raised his eyebrows at me.
I guess.” At least I knew Daddy was still alive, and conscious enough to speak on the phone. My job now was to get the money. But even if I sold the twelve cases I’d pick up tomorrow night, I’d need to sell seventeen more to come up with five grand by Tuesday. It couldn’t be done—I needed more time. But what leverage did I have to bargain with?
I looked at Enzo, my mind and heart racing.
No. You can’t.
We should go. I promised to return you within twenty minutes.” Enzo gave me that slow smile, which made my belly go hollow. “And I do rather value those body parts your friend threatened.”
Right.” I licked my lips as I walked to the door, and Enzo waited until I reached it before turning off the lamp. His silhouette came closer in the darkness, and my insides tightened.
Oh yes, I can.
If you’ll move, I’ll unlock the door,” he said.
Fear and some other untamable feeling buzzed through me. “No.”
No?”
We still have five minutes.” I rushed forward and threw my arms around his neck, crushing my lips to his. For a moment he was stunned; I heard his keys hit the floor. Then strong arms locked around my back, and his mouth opened wide over mine, his tongue lashing inside with deep, demanding strokes. My body ignited in a way I hadn’t anticipated. Keep your senses. This is just a ploy. You’re angry with him. Our mouths battled each other with such ferocity I couldn’t breathe, and I imagined the fire between us consuming all the oxygen in the room. He tasted like temptation— whisky and smoke.
Pressing my forearms against his shoulders, I jumped up and wrapped my legs around his waist. Enzo pushed my back up against the door, his hands slipping beneath my dress to the undersides of my legs, his fingers gripping the bare skin above my stockings. Gasping, I squeezed his torso between my thighs as his mouth traveled across my face and down my neck. His fingers edged inside the lace of my step-in, teasing the soft pink folds at my center while his tongue lingered in the hollow at the base of my throat.
Something deep and powerful surged within me. Threading my fingers through his dark hair, I pulled his head back and we stared hard at each other before our mouths slammed together once more. He shifted my weight under one arm and found the side fasteners of my dress with the other.
Somehow, he undid seven hooks and eyes with one hand.
His fingers slipped inside my dress and pressed against the bare skin on my lower back. Then he swung me away from the door and moved to the desk, setting me on its edge with my dress bunched up around my hips. Standing between my knees, he ran his hands up my pale white thighs, which glowed in the dark above my stockings. My chest heaved with ragged breaths as he shrugged off his coat and loosened his tie. My hands itched to touch him, to travel under starched cotton and over hot skin, to reach low and feel exactly how he wanted me. To know for certain what he could to do to me, if I let him.

Frenched Series - reviews

 Floored (Frenched, #3)
Floored (Frenched 3)
After falling in love with Frenched, a true hidden gem, in my opinion, and Forked, I couldn't wait to read Floored. Floored was just as fun, if not better!

When Charlie Dwyer, handsome police officer shows up at Erin Upton's house after a break in, Erin is not only embarrassed but also attracted to this grown up version of the boy she used to know. Erin agrees to a date and finds herself falling more and more for Charlie. When she finds out he's been keeping a secret from her that changes her perspective on their entire relationship, she must decide whether or not Charlie is worth it.

With a lot of confessions, Breaking Bad references and kinky toys, this book floored me and I absolutely loved it!

Forked (Frenched 2)
Coco Thomas is Mia's best friend and partner at Devine Events. When planning a party and the party host requests none other than Nick Lupo, who also happens to be her gorgeous ex, as the caterer, you do what you can to get him to agree. Even if that means trading in your time to spend it with him!

When Coco and Nick spend time together, sparks fly regardless of the fact that their history is off limits and not to resurface again. Fortunately for them, some rules are made to be broken.

Forked was a great addition to the Frenched series and I can't wait for more form Melanie Harlow.

 Frenched (Frenched, #1) https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1400719993l/22241626.jpg
Frenched and Yanked (Frenched 1.5)
This book! This book! Where has it been all my life?! Such a hidden gem and my personal favorite kind of book. What's better than a romantic encounter in Paris turned into something so much more?!

When Mia's fiance leaves her before the wedding, she is completely heartbroken. Her friends convince her to go on the honeymoon alone, it is Paris after all! When Mia finds herself in a bar with Lucas Fournier, he offers to show her around the city.

Since Mia is only going to be there a week, she lets Lucas give her the full parisian experience. Falling in love in Paris may sound cliche but I absolutely adored everything about this book! I loved even more that we got to continue Lucas and Mia's story in Yanked! You do not want to miss these books!

Floored - Blog Tour

Book Details:
Title: Floored (Frenched Series Book #3)
Author: Melanie Harlow
Genre: NA, Contemporary Romance, Humor
Release Date: February 5, 2015

Synopsis:
Erin Upton is too embarrassed to tell the cops what she was really doing while her townhouse was burglarized, especially since the first officer on the scene is former nuisance next door Charlie Dwyer. Where’s the justice in the world when a neighborhood know-it-all grows up to be six-foot-three inches of solid muscle with gorgeous green eyes and a slow, sexy please-arrest-me-now-officer smile? It’s bad enough she’s wearing her robe and slippers—did he have to notice her fuzzy hand cuffs on the bathroom sink?
He’s arrogant as he ever was, which is fine by her—she’s too busy with her dance studio’s grand opening to make time for a man. But they keep crossing paths, and
when Charlie offers to help her put in new flooring at the studio one night, things go from hammering nails to hammering each other in a hurry. And about those hand cuffs…
They agree it’s a one-time thing. But when that becomes a two-time thing, then a three-time thing, Erin starts to wonder if maybe she and Charlie could be a life-time thing. Her best friends Mia and Coco found love in unexpected places. Is it finally her turn?

Excerpt

Stop it. Im not perfect. Im not what you think.”
Charlie tilted his head. “No?”
I licked my lips. “You think Im a joke. The “Teachers Pet. The Homecoming Queen. The Goody Two Shoes who likes everything just so, everything neat and clean. Well, I dont, you know. Like everything clean.”
Charlie said nothing at first. But his stillness told me he was intrigued. A lovely little ache blossomed between my legs.
You like some things dirty. Is that what youre saying?”
Yes,” I whispered, butterflies rioting in my belly.
Im not sure you do.”
Try me.”
Slowly, he came off the counter. Bracing my hands behind my hips, I opened my knees, and he stepped between them, sliding his hands up the tops of my thighs. He was so tall, I had to tilt my head back to look at him. Up close his chest was even more imposing, and his shoulders seemed to dwarf mine. Gooseflesh rippled down my arms, and my breaths came fast.
By contrast, Charlie seemed completely in control. His breathing was slow and measured, his hands moving over my hips and beneath my sweatshirt. His eyes stayed locked on mine as his palms slid up the sides of my ribcage and back down, spanning my waist. “Such a tiny little thing.”
Scared youll break me?”
Yes.” In the near dark, his blue eyes looked black.
Do it.”
In less than a second, Charlie pulled off three moves that had me gasping for air—he yanked me to my feet, turned me around, and kicked my heels apart so my legs were spread and I was bent over the island, arms pinned behind my back. His legs pressed the backs of my thighs, and his hips pushed against my ass.
He was hard.
The power went out completely.
Oh my fucking God.
Panting, I lay my cheek on the cool marble, unsure of what to do next. Between my ears, the message was this is scary. Between my legs, it was this is hot.
No, don’t give up. Fight me. Come on. Struggle.” His voice was different now—deeper, quieter even, yet more intimidating.
Adrenaline coursed through my body, my heart pounding with fear, with arousal, with shock. I tried moving my arms—he pulled them tighter, clamped my wrists harder. I tried moving my legs—he pinned my hips against the marble, his erection pushing firmly into my flesh. I flexed my fingers—he laughed softly.
Thats it. Try everything. Scream if you like.”
I couldnt scream even if I wanted to. It felt like the darkness had weight, like it was bearing down on my back with a force stronger than gravity. Breathing required all the lung strength I had, and I wasnt even sure I could keep that up.
Tell me Im hurting you.”
He was hurting me.
But I liked it.
He yanked my arms mercilessly behind me. “Tell me.
Youre hurting me,” I said weakly.
Tell me to stop.”
Stop.” Dont stop.
Tell me you dont want this from me.”
I don’t—want this—from you.” Each word was its own struggle. I meant the words, and yet I didnt. I wanted him, but knew I shouldnt. And was this only a game? Was he just testing me? Or, worse, was he back there laughing at me in the dark? I had no way to tell.
Good girl. You dont want this from me, sweet thing.” He backed off slightly and somehow imprisoned both my wrists with one of his hands. The other one snaked around to my belly.
And down the front of my pants.

The lucky number one of the year goes to Lucas Fournier from Melanie Harlow's Frenched.  C'est manifique!
