Great Exploitations - review

More, more, more! I want more! I absolutely loved this little novella! It was clever, unique and a fun read! Far different from any book I've read.

Seduction. Infidelity. Blackmail. Scandal. Just a typical day in the life of an Eve. What is an Eve? Who is an Eve? An Eve is just one in a secret group of women, highly trained, hired by wealthy women, to exploit their husbands so that their pre-nuptial agreements become null and void. Eves are very good at their Errands (as they are called) and the more wealthy the man is, the more money they make from their conquest. Eves become the temptation of whichever Errand they are going after at that time and Sienna Stevens is one of the best because she never lets it get personal.

This book was an excellent start to the series and I can't wait to find out what happens next. You have outdone yourself Ms. Williams! Good work!

Depths - review

Depths is book 2 in the Lengths series by Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt. It's a quick, light read that has the right amount of love and friendship.

Cohen has just been dumped by his longtime girlfriend and is back out on the dating scene and having the worst luck. Maren has dropped out of school and is working full time to take care of her alcoholic father. Cohen and Maren have spoken over the phone numerous times and have developed a nice friendship but when the two of them finally meet, their chemistry is undeniable.

We also get a bit more of Deo and Whit in this book and I am happy that there was a lot less unnecessary cursing in this one. I look forward to more from this series and Steph & Liz. They work well together!

THE EDGE OF ALWAYS Excerpt
Camryn shrieks and I start laughing as we dash away from the cows and toward the car.
“Awww, shiiiit!” I yell when I step in a huge pile of it.
Camryn cackles with laughter and we both practically stumble the rest of the way through the field, me trying to scrape the shit off the bottom of my shoe while running at the same time and Camryn’s flip-flops getting caught on the ground trying to keep up with her feet.
“I can’t believe that just happened!” Camryn laughs as we finally make it back to the car. She arches her body over forward and props her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.
I’m out of breath, too, but I still relentlessly scrape the bottom of my shoe on the asphalt. “Dammit!” I say, rubbing my foot back and forth.
Camryn jumps up on the hood of the car, letting her legs hang over the front. “Can we finally say that we did it?” she asks with laughter in her voice.
I stand still finally and catch my breath. I look at her, at how beautiful and bright that smile of hers is and I say, “Yeah, babe, I think we can safely mark it off our list.”
“Good!” she says.
Then she points behind me. “Do it on the grass,” she says with one side of her mouth pinched into a hard line. “You’re just spreading it around doing it like that.”
I hop over into the grass and start rubbing my foot back and forth again. “Since when did you become an expert on shit?”
“Better watch your mouth,” she warns, getting into the driver’s seat.
“What are you going to do?” I taunt her.
She starts the Chevelle and revs the engine a few times pressing on the gas. There’s a cruel gleam in her eyes. She props her left arm across the top of the open window and next thing I know she’s driving slowly past me.
I give her the warning eye, but her grin just gets bigger.
“I know you won’t leave me here!” I shout as she goes past me.
Surely she wouldn’t….
She gets farther away and at first I call her bluff and just stand here, watching her get smaller and smaller…
Finally, I take off running after the car.

Reckless - review

Reckless. I have to say that the anticipation and title of this book had me more angst filled than the actual book itself. While I'm not complaining at all, this was my least favorite of the series.

I really don't want to give away any of the story but I can tell you that Kellen is sexier than ever and if you thought his love notes were swoon-worthy before, then....just. you. wait!  Kellen is literally sex on a stick and he has a way with the alphabet! I now love the letter H! Just saying!

Kiera has definitely come a long way from her first arriving in Seattle with Denny (who has found his own happiness with Abby). Everyone's story wrapped up perfectly and although I'm sad to see it end, Ms. Stephens did a great job of giving the characters their own peace, love and closure.

Passion, friendship, love, loyalty, trust . . . if you found the right person . . . you really could have it all. - S.C. Stephens

I am and will always be a D-Bag fan!

Because of You - Cover Reveal

Because of You (Playing with Fire #2) by TE Sivec

Release Date: April 29, 2013
Cover Design: Sarah Hansen at Okay Creations (www.okaycreations.net)

BLURB:
Brady Marshall has made a career of playing it safe. When he decides to do something rash and becomes a Navy SEAL, he thinks he's finally escaped the rigid structure of the high society life his parents forced down his throat. All he does is trade in one set of rules for another. He follows military protocol to a T, but it still results in the death of an entire team of Navy SEALS and puts his best friends directly in harm's way. He’s struggled to stay afloat and not drown in grief, guilt, and booze, but he's losing that battle quickly. When his baby sister flees her abusive husband and shows up on his doorstep with his young niece in tow, he has no choice but to clean up his act. He will stop at nothing to protect them and never let them down again, even if it means taking a job that goes against everything he believes in. If protecting a pop star princess who thinks she's better than everyone means he can keep a roof over their head, what other choice does he have?
Layla Carlysle has lived a life of luxury. She's been a star since the young age of fifteen, and every record she releases shoots straight to the top of the charts. She has people surrounding her every single day telling her how amazing she is, how beautiful she is, and how lucky she is, but she’s never felt more alone in her entire life. She wants nothing more than to break free and do what she really wants to do: write her own music, sing her own songs, and find a way to finally be happy with her life. The only thing standing in her way is her mother, Eve Carlysle. Eve has controlled every single aspect of her daughter’s life and will stop at nothing to achieve fame and fortune, even if that means using her daughter to get there. When an overly amorous
fan’s letters become increasingly more sinister, Brady will have to suck up his opinion of
how the other half lives to take the job seriously. The pair will need to learn to trust each other and put aside their differences before the letters become a reality and someone’s life is in jeopardy. Brady has been to hell and back, and he refuses to let anyone else get close to him again. Layla has never lived her life for herself, and the emptiness is threatening to break her for good. Sometimes our lives are already planned for us, but because of you, all of that could change in an instant.
