TFEiC trip to Chicago!

What an experience! I honestly had the best time and got to meet so many amazing authors that inspired me to blog in the first place. How could I pass up the opportunity to meet them all at once? I couldn't and it was so worth it! A whirlwind of a trip and flying out to Chicago alone was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.  It was so exciting to get to talk with each author about their books and can't wait to read more of their stories!

Some pics of the day....

Tara Sivec - "Spitters are quitters"!

S.C. Stephens (aka Kellen Kyle's boss)

Colleen Hoover - butterflying awesome!

Jillian Dodd - love the goodie bag!

Untouchable Series - reviews

First off, I absolutely loved this series! All of it! I read them back to back to back and never wanted them to end.

In book one of the series, we meet heiress in hiding, Annalisa (Winslett) McKinnis.  She is an absolute bad ass and is pretty much awesome at everything. It's a little annoying after while but whatever, I loved it! When two new hotties enroll at Pensacola High, of course they both fall for her. Unfortunately, one of them is hired to kill her. Leese and Evan (aka Micah) both end up telling eachother the truth about who they really are and Micah has six weeks to finish his job or someone will kill them both.

You can feel the love and sexual tension on each page. There are so many twists and turns in this book. I honestly couldn't put it down because I was dying to know what was going to happen next.

Unforgivable was an excellent addition to the Untouchable Series!

It picks up right where the first book left off. With Micah having left the mob, Leese and Micah believe they can finally live their life together. Unfortunately, the mob doesn't want to let go of their best hit man.

Both Micah and Leese make some extremely unforgivable decisions in the name of love and to protect eachother. I was a complete angsty mess while reading this book. We get more of Ryan's character too (the other boy from the first book). He turns out to be a great friend to Annalisa but of course those feelings he has for her are still there.

What a heart wrenching yet hopeful book!

Aahhhh Untraceable, the final chapter in the Untouchable Series did not disappoint. It's full of action, a lot more sex, suspense and emotional wreckage!

The love between Micah and Annalisa is real and intense. I found myself screaming at the pages, at Micah and at the hell that was breaking loose all over!

Luckily, we get a happy ending, a hell of a shocker and the possibility of being able to have it all over again!

If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. Perfect amount of  romance, angst, heartbreak, sacrifice, family, faith and hope and love.

Today is the Day!!!!

It's finally here and I'm on my way to meet these fabulous authors that are the exact reason that I decided to start blogging in the first place. Awesome inspirations!!!  Oh and special guest Kellen Kyle!!!

On the Island - review

I completely fell in love with this book when I read it! It was one of those books that I read in one sitting because I couldn't put it down!

Anna Emerson is a 30 year old teacher who is heading to Maldives for the summer to tutor 16 year old, cancer patient, T.J. Callahan who is currently in remission. When their plane crashes on the way to the island, the two of them must work together to survive. As each year passes and T.J. grows up into an adult, their feelings start to change. At first I had some reservations about their relationship but ultimately I found myself rooting for them. The age difference is not weird at all and nothing happens while T.J. is a minor. As a couple, they have a lot to endure and their story was just perfect.

Easy - review

It was so Easy to fall in love with this book!

Jaqueline follows her boyfriend to college and is completely devastated when he breaks up with her. After the shock wears off and reality sets in, Jaqueline is failing her econ class and her professor gets her in touch with Landon who begins tutoring her through e-mail.  There is also another boy in her class, Lucas, who is constantly sketching in his notebook and staring at her. He also happens to be in the right place at the right time when Jaqueline is leaving a party one night and is attacked by a frat boy turned stalker. Lucas is awesome! He is swoon worthy with his tattoos and lip piercing and has the whole tortured hero thing going for him however, Lucas has some secrets of his own.

This book will easily suck you in from the very first page and you will not want it to end! It's an emotional roller coaster that is worth the ride! I read this a few months ago and just writing the review makes me want to go back and re-read it!

Down to You - review

Wow! What a great book! As if the cover didn't want to make you read it anyways! Holy hotness! This was the first book I've read by M. Leighton and let me just say that it definitely will not be my last!

Olivia Townsend is a typical farmer's daughter who is working her way through college by tending bar and she's living with her rich cousin, Marissa. Olivia is an accounting major who meets Cash, the owner of the club, Duel, while she's at a bachelorette party. And what a meeting it is! Sweet Jesus, Cash Davenport! He's like sex on a stick! And a total bad boy!

There's no denying this man is hot. Effing hot. Probably hotter than the stove he's cooking on." - M. Leighton

And let's not forget about twin brother, Nash, who is "hotter than seven shades of hell" - M. Leighton

The problem is that Nash the good guy, the one Olivia should be with and the one who's dating her cousin. And Cash. He consumes her. Olivia wants them both and they both want her! We are left with a nice little cliff hanger which definitely keeps you wanting more!!

Just For Now - Abbi Glines - Cover Reveal

Book description:

The day Preston Drake figured out that wealthy women paid well for a set of tight abs and a pretty face his life turned around.

The run down rat-infested trailer he had shared with his alcoholic mother and three younger siblings was now only a place he visited to pay the bills and stock the pantry with food.

He no longer worried about his family starving or living without electricity. The money he made entertaining rich older women more than covered his family’s needs and his own. He had it all figured out. Except…

There was this girl.

She was as innocent as he was tainted.

Amanda Hardy wished her knees didn’t get weak when Preston walked into a room. She hated the fact her heart raced when he flashed his smile in her direction. He had a different girl in his bed every night. He was the kind of boy a smart girl ran from. So, why was she coming up with ways to get close to him? Even when it was obvious he wanted to keep her at a distance.

Maybe her heart knew something the world didn’t. Maybe Preston Drake was more than just a pretty face.

Also, she is the amazing author of The Undeparted (my review) and The Ascent of the Undeparted (my review). Definitely worth the read!

The Ascent of the Undeparted - review

Book 2 in the Undeparted Series was just as awesome, if not better than the first!

Quentin is trying to discover a way to alter his blood so that he  will be able to change him and Cassandra back to mortal. If they can ascend to the final judgement, Quentin may be able to atone for his past sins.  The one thing standing in his way is the Banished One, Lucius!! Lucius, once known as Mike is out for revenge against Quentin. He kidnaps Cassandra as leverage against Quentin and will stop at nothing to take down the powerful vampire.  Although Quentin in seemingly weaker because of the blood altering potion, his love for Cassandra is much stronger!

Deborah Palumbo is a fantastic story teller and I strongly suggest that you start reading this series! I hear it's only gonna get better!!!!

Sexy Sunday 9/23

So this week, since I've been busy reviewing Avoiding Commitment I thought I'd make Jack Howard the book boyfriend of the week (even though he's not a great boyfriend, I still can't get enough)! I love him, I hate him but he's so nice to look at!

I borrowed this pic from K.A. Linde's facebook post. This is who she pictures when she sees Jack! Works for me!

Futures and Frosting - review

Tara Sivec has done it again!!! Futures and Frosting is the second book in the Chocolate Lovers series and is just as fantastic as Seduction and Snacks! If you have a vagina then you need to read these books now!

Claire, Carter and Gavin are getting settled into their family life and it's nothing short of crazy! Carter is trying to find the perfect way to propose to Claire and Claire is under the impression that Carter never wants to get married. From her late night "porn addiction" to the bachelorette party from hell to ceiling fan baseball, their relationship and their friends and family are bat-shit-crazy! Gavin is a piece of work and the things he says will have you ready to pee your pants! The off the wall comments from him, Drew and everyone else are just absolutely hysterical! I can't say any more without giving away the book so just start reading it so we can laugh about it later. The epilogue was perfect and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

P.S. Tara, Thank you so much for including my blog in your acknowledgments! You made me feel like a kid on Christmas before I even got to the first chapter!

Avoiding Commitment - review

Oh K.A. Linde!!!! How you torment me!!! (In a good way, of course!) Even writing this review gets me all torn up again!

Jack and Lexi have never had a normal relationship. You could say that it was tainted from the beginning. Everything changes one night when Jack calls Lexi after 2 years and asks her to talk to his new girlfriend, soon to be fiance, Bekah and convince her that he's now ready to be in a committed relationship. Ugh, really?! Jack!

Lexi relives her relationship with Jack and the book alternates between past and present day. Avoiding Commitment is super angsty!! Like you wanna punch someone in the face, break your kindle in half, angsty! Every girl has had a "Jack" in her life....I love you, Jack and I hate you, Jack! Bekah, you manipulative bitch! I hate you more! And Ramsey, well, I'm still undecided.  And I can't wait for more!

(Luckily I've already read Avoiding Responsibility and I didn't have to wait. Review is coming shortly.) If you haven't read it yet, it'll be out December 1st!

Stalk Me - review

The Keatyn Chronicles: Book 1 was awesome!!!  It's being dubbed as Gossip Girl meets Mean Girls in Malibu which is so totally fitting!

"You could come with me. Or you could Stalk Me. Or Kiss Me. Or Date Me. Or Love Me. Or take me to your room and attack me." - Jillian Dodd

Keatyn's high school experience is like the perfect movie script. She has everything she has ever wanted yet her life is far from perfect. Now she doesn't know that she wants it anymore and she is ready to change the script. This book totally takes you back to high school and I had so much fun reading it! I loved all of the characters and found myself first rooting for Brooklyn, then Cush, then Brooklyn, then Cush and even Vincent, eek, I know! Now I'm all about the demi-God hottie of all hotties!

I think I love Jillian Dodd and can't wait for book 2 of the Keatyn Chronicles (which comes out in December). Guess I'll have to read That Boy and That Wedding in the mean time!

Love Unrehearsed - review

I absolutely freakin' love Ryan Christensen!!!!

It's been way too long since we got to meet Ryan in Love Unscripted but it was so easy to get right back there with him and Taryn. Ryan is so incredibly swoon worthy, sigh, and he only has eyes for Taryn regardless of his leading ladies and crazy fan girls!

Their love story picked up right where it left off and we got to see a lot of premier parties and more world traveling. My only problem was that there was a lot going on but a lot of nothing going on.  Sure we got the engagement party, Taryn's adoption, Ryan's anxiety, the paparazzi, drugs, lack of privacy, a couple arrests and occasional stalker but for me everything went by too quickly. I wish the wedding scenes were a little longer, especially theirs! I'm so glad Ryan and Taryn get their happy ever after and the ending was perfectly perfect.

Sexy Sunday Premier!

Okay, so I have been trying to find a way to get over the Sunday night blues and what better way than to start a Sexy Sunday post! I'll be featuring my current book boyfriend of the week each Sunday and my first victim is none other than.....

Ryan Christensen from Love Unscripted and Love Unrehearsed by Tina Reber!!! He's used to the premier parties so I decided to let him show everyone else how it's done!  If you haven't read these books yet, I suggest you add them to your list so you can see how much "book boyfriend" material he is. Sorry Taryn, hope you don't mind that I borrowed your man for the week ;) I'll return him in one piece, I swear!

I have no idea who this guy is or where this picture came from but he can be my Ryan Christensen!

The Undeparted - review

Book 1 in the Undeparted Series.....

Cassandra is the only mortal to resist being bitten by a vampire. She is now trying to figure out if that night was real or just a dream.  Her boyfriend, police officer, Mike Lapp doesn't believe that vampires exist and neither does her best friend and colleague, Lucy.  Quentin, the mysterious vampire is determined to have Cass believe in him and will do what it takes to prove himself to her because she has awakened something in him that he has suppressed for many years.  Quentin decides to blackmail Cassandra by setting up Mike for a murder that he didn't commit. Cassandra surrenders herself to him but when Mike comes to rescue her she realizes that people are not what they appear to be.

I really enjoyed this book. Quentin was mysterious and not my "normal" vampire type that I'm used to but I admit that halfway through I was so intrigued. Wouldn't mind learning more about Christian either (hint, hint)! The ending completely shocked me. What a great turn of events!  I can't wait to read more of the series!!

Taking Chances - review

Bring out the tissues!!!! I can't believe that on all of the days to read this one, I pick September 11th. It was ironic that the book made reference to that day and it was extremely emotional in just the right places.

Taking Chances started off with a Beautiful Disaster/Thoughtless feel too it but about halfway through that entire thought was gone and my world was flipped upside down! I was literally sobbing and completely in shock! NOOOOOOO!!! I had to re-read the page twice to make sure I was reading it right!

Harper, the daughter of a Marine, grew up on base in North Carolina and moves to California to start college and live her life. She almost instantly falls in love with two incredibly gorgeous guys who also happen to be friends. Chase is the brother of Harper's new roommate Bree (who is an amazing character and everyone should have a bff like her). He knows that he is no good for Harper but he gives up his skanky girls and drunk nights in an attempt to prove his worth.  Brandon is an underground MMA fighter with a sensitive side and Harper and him immediately start dating. (I was totally waiting for him to screw up in a bad way).  Both guys have swoon worthy moments and will do anything for Harper yet I am totally Team Chase (I think)! It's a torturous love triangle and you honestly get the love that Harper feels for both of them. Without giving away any spoilers (and believe me I want to this time) Bree and Chase's parents take in Harper as one of their own and they show her love that she has never received from her own father.

The book is a little long but I'm happy that it wasn't split into two books. Not sure if I'd have the heart to read the second one after the turn of events that take place. Taking Chances is an intense and heartbreaking story of family, love, loss, relationships and second chances!

Backstage Pass & Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour) - reviews

Love, sex (a LOT of it) and rock and roll! Yep! Pretty much sums it up. This is one of the hottest books I have read. There is so much sex that I was a little embarrassed reading it. Believe it or not, there is a plot to this book and when I finished the book, I realized how much I really liked it. I'm totally a Sinners fan!

Myrna is a psychologist/sex professor who meets the band one night at a hotel that she is staying at for a conference. All of the band members hit on her but she is only interested in Brian, the lead guitarist. She is only interested in a one night stand but he wants something a little more permanent. Immediately the chemistry is there and Myrna brings out the music in Brian! She ends up going on tour with the band and they have some wild, crazy sex throughout the entire book. It's wickedly hot!!

Each book in the series is based on a band member and I can't wait for more!

More Sinners!!! I fell like a groupie!

Jessica completely broke Sed's heart (and hers) when she called off their engagement two years ago. Since then Sed, the lead singer has been keeping busy with many girls however, none of them get a piece of his heart. When Sed and Jessica run into each other at Brian's bachelor party, neither is happy about it. Myrna hires Jessica as her assistant and invites her to come on tour with the band for the summer.

Sed and Jessica's love for each other is undeniable and they have lots of romantic, passionate, public sex! He was so completely different in this book then he was in the first. Then ending was super sweet too! We also get to learn a lot about Trey, Jace and Eric. I can't wait for the rest of their stories.

Lengths - review

Liz Reinhardt and Steph Campbell did a fantastic job on this book! Lengths was a great, mature, young adult romance. I loved how the narrating switched from Deo's to Whit's point of view.

Nineteen year old Whit moves from Pennsylvania to California to escape the past and make a fresh start. She gets a job at a tattoo parlor, has a friend with benefits and a protective wall up. She meets Deo, a hot surfer boy who is unemployed and living with his grandfather.  Deo falls hard for Whit and while she likes him, she refuses to let her guard down. Deo goes through lengths to find out what Whit is hiding and Whit goes through lengths to protect her secret.

Lengths was a cute story. There was a lot of cursing which I don't mind but felt it was a little unnecessary. Regardless, the book was good and worth a read.

One Night With Sole Regret - reviews

What a hot series! I love these rockstar novellas!

Melanie really has no desire to meet the band Sole Regret. She is scared of their tattooed, bad boy personas but her best friend convinces her to go backstage so she can have a wild night with the lead singer. While Melanie is left alone, she meets what appears to be the only normal looking guy in the bunch. Turns out he's Gabe, the drummer of the band, also known as Force! He is a "force" to be reckoned with but there is also another reason for that nickname ;)

“Let's see what you've got, Dr. Kink E. Inventor”
Olivia Cunning, Try Me

Gabe is HOT! He convinces Melanie to give him a try and it's so worth it!! Can't wait for more of their story!

Book #2 in the One Night with Sole Regret series was another scorcher!

Madison has been Adam's one-night stand for the past year every time Sole Regret has a show in Dallas. She has seen Adam at his worst and still manages to bring out the best in him. Now she wants more than just one night with the lead guitarist, she just doesn't know if she can adjust to the rock star lifestyle. Madison tempts him in more ways than one in hopes of getting a commitment out of him.

Madison has a naughty side that Adam brings out in her.  There is a lot of dirty talk and back door action.  I hate that the story ended before the big 'performance', what a let down! I would rather have their whole story instead of having to wait for their next installment. Wish these books were full length rather than novellas but I'll take what I can get!

On Dublin Street - review

What an amazing find!! On Dublin Street kept me up late last night and it was so worth it!

Jocelyn Butler, a broken 22 year old moved from Virginia to Edinburgh to escape her tragic past. Her parents and younger sister died in a car accident when she was 14 and on top of that she lost her best friend a year later. Joss has been burying her grief and doesn't let anyone get close enough to know her real self or her troubled history.

Braden Carmichael is the hot, sexy, billionaire and also the brother of Joss' new roommate Ellie. He will stop at nothing to get what he wants and of course what he wants is Jocelyn. Braden proposes an arrangement based on no-strings attached sex and Jocelyn agrees. Thank goodness! The sex is hot and Braden is just pure yumminess!

This book had great secondary characters, an excellent plot and a perfect epilogue. It was witty, angsty, sexy, hot, romantic and all around wonderful. Highly recommend this one. Easy 4.5 / 5 stars!!!

Taken & No Takebacks (Give and Take series) - review

Although Rachel Desalvo originally turned down the job, billionaire Merrick Rocha will do anything to get her to be the project manager on the renovation of a historic hotel he just bought. This includes drugging her and taking her to the secluded island known as Turtle Tear thinking that once she's there she will never want to leave. I liked the characters but didn't love them. I mean of course Merrick is the hot, sexy, broken billionaire but his thought process is entirely screwy! Instead of pursuing Rachel about the job he drugs and kidnaps her, really? He couldn't think of another way to get her to the island? And to invite his ex-lover into the bedroom with them believing that it will help and it's what Rachel would want? Come on!

What I really liked about this book is that it's written in the second person. It definitely reminded me a bit of Stolen by Lucy Christopher but it was scorchingly  hotter!!

No Takebacks is a Taken Novella. It was way better than Taken and super hot!

It is now the grand opening of Turtle Tear and Rachel's friends and family are on the island as well as some of Merrick's family. Unfortunately, Merrick is having to sell off the business that he built from the ground up and Rachel wants to know why. When Merrick's father contacts her and wants to meet, she walks away from Merrick and leaves him ultimately betrayed.

This novella set the foundation for the next book. We are left with a huge cliffhanger and a long wait until the next book comes out!

Flat Out Love - review

I have had this book on my to-read list for a while now and FINNally got around to reading it! I had really high expectations going into this book and although it wasn't what I expected it didn't fall FLAT. Okay, I'm done with the cheesy puns! Now...

First off, I love the characters! Julie is beginning her college career in Boston and when her housing falls through she ends up staying with her mother's best friend and her family.  Erin & Roger are extremely smart yet both are emotionally distant.  Finn, the oldest son is the perfect child, ruggedly handsome and off traveling the world. Matt is the MIT geek, super smart, witty and charming middle child and Celeste, the youngest, is just as smart yet carries a life-sized cut out of her brother Finn everywhere she goes. There is also a family secret that no one will disclose to Julie. She forms a special connection with each of the family members but when the family secret is exposed, everything changes.

Flat-Out Love dealt well with the emotional pain that a family can bear, how it effects their relationships with each other and it was wonderful to see the characters grow. The writing was great and the e-mails and facebook status updates were highly entertaining. I am giving this book 4-4.5 stars! Worth the read!

Love Unscripted - review and New Cover update!!!!

Love, love, love this new cover as much as I loved this book!!
Since we only have about a week left until the release of Love Unrehearsed I figured it's the perfect time to review Love Unscripted. If you haven't read it yet, put it on your list!

Ryan Christensen is the new up and coming actor who is constantly in the spotlight. All he wants is a little privacy and while he's filming in Rhode Island the crazy fans stalk him, pretty much attack him and he stumbles into a bar owned by Taryn Mitchell. Taryn is your everyday girl who has been hurt before and is very cautious with her heart. She sees Ryan as a person and not just the Hollywood actor that he is and the two of them hit it off instantly. The story line was great, a little long but you actually get a feel for the characters and their relationship.
I can't wait for the release of Love Unrehearsed!!

Clash (Crash #2) - review

Jude Ryder is back! I fell in love with him in Crash!

“I swear that man swaggers in his sleep,”
“Yeah, but Jude’s swagger is justified, not manipulated. He moves with that strut because he knows how to make a woman throw her head back in bed. And he knows it.”
Nicole Williams, Clash

He is the quintessential bad boy, quarterback at Syracuse and head-over-heels in love with Lucy Larson. Problem is that every girl wants him including his (skanky) Spirit Sister, Adrianna Vix and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Lucy's insecurities take over and she needs time to figure out if her and Jude should be together.

My problem with this book is that Lucy is constantly back and forth. She was giving me whip lash! I don't even know how Jude put up with her! I mean come on! I also felt that the story was a little rushed and would have liked a little more of her dancing, more about their first time and more of Lucy and Jude together. All in all it was a good follow up and wouldn't mind more Jude Ryder, ever!

The Dark Duet Series - review

What an amazing, intense and emotional read! Is it bad that I found it absolutely captivating? Maybe, but the characters are dark, broken and entirely intriguing!

Livvie is a young, innocent girl who had a hard life growing up, wakes up in a dark room after being taken by Caleb, a man out for revenge against a Russian sex slave trader.  He trains Livvie to be a sex slave (without compromising her virginity) by using force, torture and  physical and emotional abuse. Even though Caleb is a cruel to Livvie, she realizes that he holds her fate in his hands and she needs to trust him in order to survive. As the story progresses, so do the characters and we are taken on a highly disturbing, provocative, edge of your seat, must read!

I highly recommend that you step out of your comfort zone for this one!
4.5 stars

“I've been doing this a long time- manipulating people to get my way. That's why you think you love me. Because I've broken you down and built you back up to believe it. It wasn't an accident. Once you leave this behind..... you'll see that." -Caleb

Book 2 of the Dark Duet was even better than the first! Full of anticipation and excitement!

I don't want to give anything away but this book is completely mind-blowing and super intense. I couldn't wait to find out how everything would end with Caleb and Livvie. While reading, you are completely at the mercy of the pages. The writing style of this book was perfect and it truly grips you from the very beginning. The book was painfully heart-wrenching, shamefully erotic and utterly brilliant!
