Thief - review

Thief. The third and final installment of the Love Me With Lies series comes full circle to a fantastic ending right where it began so long ago. After the last bomb was dropped in Dirty Red, I have been dying to get my hands on Thief.

Tarryn Fisher did an amazing job on this series. Each book is told from a different character's point of view and this time we finally get to hear from Caleb. From the very beginning Caleb and Olivia have had a roller coaster romance. Caleb is determined to get Olivia back after all this time while dealing with the aftermath of Leah and her destruction as well.

Caleb and Olivia's relationship is completely dysfunctional. They have both had their fair share of ups and downs, trouble, heartache, loss and have had every obstacle possible thrown in their way yet they are so drawn to each other and they make each other stronger.

Their story is imperfectly perfect! Highly recommend this series for anyone looking for and angst filled, highly dramatic, emotional read.

Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn't boast or brag.
There's no arrogance in love;
it's never rude, crude, or indecent-it's not self absorbed.
Love isn't easily upset.
Love doesn't tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I'll fight for her.

Losing Hope - review

Okay, I have a serious fan girl crush on Colleen Hoover! She is amazing! If you haven't read any of her books then I strongly suggest adding them to the top of your reading list immediately! Losing Hope was nothing short of stunning!

Hopeless is one of my favorite books and when I finished it I wasn't expecting a book from Holder's perspective. Let's just say that I love Dean Holder even more now and this book completed him! From the first kiss to all the forevers, I lived this book to the fullest!

Losing Hope is not just Hopeless retold but it is truly Holder's side of the story. From every heartbreak and hopeless moment to finding and discovering Hope and love, this emotional book is again pure perfection that only Colleen Hoover can deliver.

I can't rave about it enough so I'll stop here.

My Now and Forever - review

After receiving this book from the author herself, (and reading the book description)I dove right into it! I have to honestly say that it sucked me in from the very first paragraph. My heart was breaking, tears were forming and at that point, I was hooked. I completely devoured this book in one sitting!

I loved the characters in this book, starting with Milly. I really felt for her at the beginning of the story. Everything she went through as a child and all she lost along the way made her a stronger person. When Milly sets out on a new life journey (and a bucket list in hand) we get to meet Lacey, her sister from another mister who becomes her bff, the ever so delicious, farmer boy, Cree and his adorable daughter Annie, who will simply melt your heart. This book gives truth to the saying, "Sometimes good things fall apart so that better things can fall together".

A heart-breaking, heart-whelming, emotional, lovely story with a country twang! My kind of book! A stellar debut novel from HJ Bellus. Can't wait to read more of her work!

Excerpt:
“Good evening,” he said. He slowly moved closer.
I took in all of him. Though he was dressed as a gentleman, there was something rugged about him; a man who didn’t use only his brain when he went to work, but his hands, too. His eyes moved from mine and landed on my body, causing everything below my neck to redden. Only a few seconds passed before I felt him. His thumb grazed my bottom lip, his skin cold from the glass he held in his palm. I licked my lips, tasting the sweetness he had left behind. The spark from that simple touch opened my pores.
I needed him to want me.
He pressed the rim of the glass against my lips, pouring a shot of the amber liquid into my mouth. I swallowed. It was exactly what I wanted, something stiff that would ease my flutters. It burned my throat, gliding down smoothly and without effort. It felt so good…and it tasted even better. His hand brushed against my jaw as he held the drink out in front of me. I met his eyes and waited, but he wouldn’t give me a second sip. He moved a few inches closer, and I leaned farther back into the pole. The liquid finally entered into my mouth, and my body responded to his power.
While I stood in silence waiting for his next move, I observed the finer details of his face. He took care of himself; his body attested to that. But his skin didn’t look older than forty. I pictured his square chin resting on the mattress, his blue eyes meeting my green ones, the light dusting of scruff that covered his cheeks tickling the inside of my thighs. My breast fitting perfectly in his palm, with his long, slender fingers trapping my nipple and squeezing it between his nails. I wanted to lick the stubble on the sides of his face. I wanted to nibble his large, soft lips.
“Call me Jay,” he said.
During one of our conversations, Victoria had told me not to use my real name when I was with a client, and to have the men call me Cee. Not that it mattered, but it made me assume that Victoria wasn’t really hers.
“What can I call you?” he asked.
This wasn’t about me, I reminded myself. I could fantasize all I wanted about Jay, but I was here to please him. And it wasn’t about what I should say; it was about what he would want to hear.
“You can call me anything you want,” I replied. “Tell me, Jay: who do you want me to be?”
The breath he exhaled trickled inside my collar and down my neck. “Tell me your name,” he said a little louder. There wasn’t any anger in his tone. Just desire.
“Cee.”
He dipped his head, his lips stopping just above my earlobe. His fingers traced the skin below my jaw. I expected words to come out of his mouth, but instead it was a tiny moan. A breeze of cold air rushed against me as he moved over to the bed. He sat on the edge, unknotting his tie before resting his hands on the mattress.
“Come to me.”
I stepped past the pole and around the end of the bed. His commands and the way he expected to be obeyed enticed me. They weren’t cruel or threatening; his voice, his words, his whole persona was deliberate and inviting. The need from my other sexual partners had often been a turn off, but Jay’s tone was just the opposite.
 “Slowly,” he said.
With my chin pointed down, hair falling over my cheeks, I looked up at him as though he were my master. If this was the role I needed to take tonight to impress Victoria and make her proud, I was ready to abide. Our eyes met, and his breath quickened. I bit my bottom lip and took a step forward. My toes danced over a broken slab of mirror, pausing for several seconds, and I took another. Landing just a foot from his lap, my fingers caressed the buttons of his shirt. When I got to the bottom, I started back up.
“Take it off,” he said, his eyes never leaving mine.
I pushed his top button through the hole.
“No,” he said quickly. “Yours.”
My fingers circled around the top buttons of my shirt, popping them through their holes. As I got lower I shimmied my shoulders out of the collar, and the shirt fell to my chest. With my breasts still hidden, I hesitated.
His mouth opened. “Drop it. Now.”
His impatience was sexy; his demands caused everything below my stomach to soften as the fluttering increased. His voice was as nerve-wracking as it was arousing.
I pulled the shirt open, rubbing the fabric over my nipples, making them even harder as they pushed through the thin cotton. I watched the shirt fall to the floor. It floated so slowly and gracefully in its descent. I kept my eyes lowered as I dipped my fingers into the waist of my panties, running the width of my stomach.
“Now those.”

This Girl - review

Just when I thought I couldn't love this series any more, Colleen Hoover goes and schools me again! She is butterflying awesome!!!

This Girl, completely told from Will's point of view, recaps his relationship with Layken from the very beginning. I completely adore Will and everything about him. This book solidified that.

A boy that I'm seriously, deeply, madly, incredibly, and undeniably in love with.
In love with?
That's what she said.
In love with. As in present tense.
- (Colleen Hoover)

See how it all starts, how it ends and relive it all over again! You will not regret it!

I loved reading this book almost as much as the first two. It was beautifully written and to see how Will felt about all of his firsts with Lake was just perfect! It was emotional, heart whelming and a truly brilliant story about a boy, this girl and their incredible love.

I honestly can not recommend this series enough.
I promise you will love it too!

From "The Final Piece"
If we’re lucky,
If we pay enough attention,
We’ll find a
perfect match.
The pieces of the puzzle that slide right in
The pieces that hug the contours of our own
pieces.
The pieces that lock to us.
The pieces that we lock to.
The pieces that fit so well, we can’t tell
where our piece begins
And that piece ends.
Those pieces we call
Friends.
True loves.
Dreams.
Passions.
Beliefs.
Talents.
They’re all the pieces that complete our
puzzles........

When I looked at my own puzzle,
I would see a finished piece.
I had the edges lined,
The corners framed,
The center filled.
It felt like it was complete.
All the pieces were there.
I had everything I wanted.
Everything I needed.
Everything I dreamt of.

EXCERPT:
No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever. Francois Muriac The sun set. Just past the dock you could see the boats lining up and smoke billowing as the party started near the clearing. Country music drowned out the party not more than twenty feet from us, but it was him I saw. Only him.
I thought—hoped—that my feelings would have changed. But they haven’t, and in that moment I realized they probably never would. I wasn’t sure I would ever see him again. And I’d certainly never wanted to after what I knew now. But part of me, the part that still held on to those eyes and that smart-mouthed southern drawl, was waiting for him to at least acknowledge me, tell me everything that happened wasn’t my imagination. I’d gone over it in my head, what I’d say to him—the words, the expression, the tone. All of it. This, right now, wasn’t how I envisioned this would happen. Barefoot, covered in thick Georgia mud, a beer in hand, and scars on my heart wasn’t how I planned it. “You don’t remember me, do you?” I spat, regretting the words immediately. After last night, I said I’d let this go. But … I couldn’t. The liquid courage in my hand made sure of that. I expected him to say something—anything—but there was only silence, the awkward kind before his eyes deceived him and he looked at me, briefly.
That expression, that one right there, told me what I needed without any words being spoken. He remembered but wouldn’t admit it because who wanted to admit they purposely broke someone’s heart?
He crumbled me with that look—the only look I’d gotten since he’d been back.
Bensen, though a complete asshole at times, didn’t want to break my heart. “No,” he said, his eyes on the lake avoiding any reaction I might have. He took that old worn baseball cap from his head with his right hand and ran his fingers through his mop of dusty brown hair before replacing it, agitated and aware.
But the thing was, all these years, all those summers of writing in that damn journal had led me here, remembering and regretting the things I couldn’t let go of.
“Well,” I said, shifting my weight from one foot to the other—my journal, my life, my tears, and my dreams clenched in my sweaty palm. My eyes drifted to his; he stared at my feet, wishing they’d move, wishing all of me would move away from him, but I couldn’t.Feeling the sudden panic rise, my hand and heart trembled as I decided what I would do next. I’d had enough remembering, and certainly enough regretting, so I did what I never planned to do when I opened that leather bound notebook all those years ago. Inside that book was a love bound by blue gray and sealed by the thick Georgia mud around us. It was pages and pages of nights I didn’t regret; it was memories of legs on the dash while singing Marshall Tucker and his arm around my shoulder, swimming after the sun went down and anything else those summers brought with it. Everything was in that book. Unfortunately, my anger got the best of me. Searching for the moment, the lie I knew he’d been keeping, I wiped the tears from my heated cheeks, squaring my shoulders, before I threw the notebook at him. “Maybe this will help you remember.” Not that I expected anything less, given his behavior the last week, but the notebook fell at his feet, his eyes never moving as I walked past him. “Read that, and tell me you don’t remember.” I didn’t turn around, nor could I. I had just handed him my heart, as if he hadn’t already had it. Only now, nothing was hidden. Suddenly, I’m thirteen again, living for the summer. The sun glowing, the days long and hot, sticky and heavy, everything his memory was.

Safe Word - review

Okay, judging a book by the cover here, I love it! Actually reading the book, I'm a little disappointed. While I didn't hate the book, it just wasn't what I expected. Especially the title! Kidnapping, check. Hot guy, check. Good storyline, check. Sexy scenes, check. All the makings of a good book yet it just sort of fell flat for me.

When Colt Bishop walks into a bar looking for his next victim to kidnap for ransom, he comes across the one girl from his past who got away. He takes her home and at one point she says, "I thought being kidnapped would be much more interesting". My thoughts exactly! I feel like I didn't really get to know the characters well enough. Even though I  enjoyed the flashbacks, which helped get a glimpse of their history together, everything in the book just felt rushed. Even the sex scenes:(

I'm giving this fast paced read is a decent 3.5 stars.

Walking Disaster - review

Just when I thought I couldn't love Travis Maddox any more, Walking Disaster kicks it up a notch! I loved Beautiful Disaster but hearing it from Travis makes it so much better!

Yes, it's the same story, has the same feel to it but Travis, aaaahhhhh Travis! There isn't much more to say than that. I loved everything from the prologue (which made me tear up) to the happy-ever-after epilogue. Every word, every thought, every punch, every kiss made this walking disaster even more beautiful in my eyes. I don't think I could ever get enough of Travis and Abby's story.

If you haven't read Beautiful Disaster then definitely read that one first. I was hesitant to read this because I already knew the story but I'm so glad I did. Can't believe I waited so long to read it. 5 beautiful stars!

Tangled - review

Tangled is my new favorite book right now! Definitely one of the best of 2013 so far, hands down! Emma Chase's debut novel is witty, sexy, hot and all told from the male point of view. Scary. I know!

Drew Evans. My new book boyfriend. I just love him. He's sexy, smart, cocky, arrogant, knows what he wants and goes after it. What he wants just happens to be Kate Brooks. She's perfect for him too! Like Obi Wan said, "You can not escape your destiny"! hmmm, maybe George Lucas was on to something!

This book was completely original, had awesome characters, a unique storyline, priceless dialogue and was perfectly written. The Notebook references also won me over! Read it now or read it later, just read it. Come to the dark side people! You will not be disappointed. 5 fanfreakintastic stars!!! Can't wait for Twisted!

Scandal in Seattle - review

Eve. Errand. Target. Ten. Henry Callahan. Ex. Revenge.  All the ingredients that you need for a scandalous book and leading up to a Great Exploitation!

I can honestly say that I love, love, love these little novellas! I wish they were longer, came out sooner, and didn't leave my dying to know what will happen next.

This book picks up right where Mischief in Miami ends. Sienna Stevens is no more and Ally Andrews is off to Seattle for her next errand. When she finally lands her Ten, it's no other than her ex-fiance, billionaire Henry Callahan. Of course he knows her real name, Eve. Coincidence?! Maybe, but this job just got complicated. Lets hope Eve doesn't screw it up!

Looking forward to the next installment. Please hurry Ms. Williams!!!

Out of Breath - review

AAAhhhhhh finally! The 3rd and final installment of The Breathing Series (that I have been impatiently waiting for)! I do have to say that I'm a little upset this book compared to the first two. While there were some good parts there were also some confusing parts and plenty of unnecessary pages.

Reason to Breathe and Barely Breathing were both emotional, intense, disturbing, heart breaking and truly gripping. I feel as though Out of Breath did just that, ran out of breath. I was hoping for so much more. Especially more of Evan and Emma. Their story was what mattered most, it was what we were all waiting for!

The story started a little slow but ultimately ended up where it was supposed to. It took a while to get there and when we did it just ended. Abruptly. Without a proper epilogue. Really?! After all that time and drama, and anxiety and waiting! That's it?! *Sigh*
Huge disappointment to say the least.

With that being said, I'm happy that Emma and Evan's story is over and we can all breathe again. It truly saddens me that some people have to deal with the emotional abuse that Emma endured especially from her own family. I also look forward to reading more from Rebecca Donovan. I will not let this ending effect that!
